Medium: painting and drawing
This exploratory and skill building workshop applies a study of basic forms in drawing and watercolor to the portrait. Students will learn techniques in drawing from observation, how to build up an image starting with basic shapes, the logic of light, techniques in watercolor, and color mixing to bring to life a portrait of your choosing.
This class is designed for the beginner to advanced student looking to develop their skills in drawing and watercolor, while finding awe, ease, and enjoyment along the way.
CLASS STRUCTURE
Lesson 1: Intros, Blind Drawings, Experiencing Work and Assessing ‘Value’, Seeing for Drawing, Watercolor Play
Lesson 2: Drawing Simple Forms, Patchwork Watercolors, Warm and Cool Observational Color Studies
Lesson 3: Quick Sketches and Watercolor Studies to Simply Value, Vertical Watercolor Painting, Seamless and Effortless Color Blending Strategies
Lesson 4: Applying Techniques to a Watercolor Portrait, Mixing Luminous Grays, Subduing and Framing Vibrancy to Create Form
