Enjoy focusing on paintings by Arthur B. Carles, (1882-1951), best known for his daring use of color and his influence on the development of modernism and abstract painting in Philadelphia. He was an instructor at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) and introduced his students to the work and ideas of the European artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque and others. This program will be led by Woodmere docent, Sharon Reiss.
